ABOUT LIHAM SCHOOLS

Liham Preparatory School was founded on Monday 11th January, 1988 and it is located at 2, Yovi Street, Bickerseth Estate, Iwaya, Yaba, Lagos. The school started with 16 pupils and the population has risen considerably over the years.

The Proprietress/Headmistress is Mrs. Tokunbo Johnson who was a trained teacher in the United Kingdom and has been in the teaching profession since 1973 with experience both in the U.K. and Nigeria before she founded Liham Preparatory School in 1988.
As a living proof to the high academic standard of the school, two pupils have been awarded full scholarship on admission to the Federal Government’s Suleja Academy for Gifted Children for their secondary school education. These pupils were Ogochukwu Agbo in the 1997/98 session, and Ugochi Ugonna in the 2002/03 session. In addition one of our pupils, Zetife Chukwuma came “and in the National Mathematics Association Competition for Primary Schools in the Lagos Zone during the 2006/07 academic session. Another pupil, Ezinne Okafor gained admission into the highly rated Jesuit Loyola College, Abuja in 2006 at the tender age of nine (9) years on grounds of sheer academic excellence.

Our pupils have gained admission into other reputable secondary schools such as International School University of Lagos, Faith Academy, Sango-Ota, Kings College, Lagos, Queens College, Yaba and other Unity Schools and Lagos State Model Colleges.
At the social level, We came first in the choreography dance competition held at the Federal College of Education primary school in December, 2007. We took part in the Opral Awards, International Dance Drama and Art Competition at University of Lagos on 15th February,2008.

We are also involved in charitable activities making donation on annual basis to the needy and organizations such as Modupe Cole Memorial School, Akoka, Yaba, Old Peoples Home, Yaba, etc. One of the recent donations made was a fridge-freezer to the Old Peoples Home, Yaba on the occassion of our 20th Founders day Anniversary on the 11th January, 2008. We also give annual scholarship to indigent brilliant pupils.

The school has vehicles for the use of pupils and staff members for excursions, sporting and social activities amongst other logistics requirements.
